Are you feeling overwhelmed? Struggling to make sense of your life? Looking for direction or just need somewhere to talk freely? Welcome, I'm Lorraine an Integrative Counsellor working both in person and online. I'm empathic, warm and friendly and my aim is to make sure you feel comfortable and informed throughout our time together.
About me and my practice
My core person centred approach supports a space where you can feel heard ,free from judgement and supported and safe enough to explore your life at a pace that feels right for you. In our first session we will discuss your goals for our work together and I will begin to find out a little about how life is for you. From here we will work together usually on a weekly basis over a period of time agreed. Reviews will take place at regular intervals to assess your progress as well as your current needs and goals. Sessions can be both short and long term and conducted online via the Zoom platform. I offer both weekly and fortnightly sessions.
Throughout my work I make use of other theories and techniques to offer you sessions that are as individual as you. There is no one size fits all!
Counselling can be an emotional and challenging process but you can be assured that I will be alongside you, mindful to your experience and supporting you throughout.
As a member of the BACP, safety and ethics are always at the forefront of my work. www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/
If my approach feels like it could potentially be the start of your journey then please take a moment to contact me via message or email and we can arrange a free phone consultation to ascertain if you'd like to work together. The first step is always the hardest but I will be with you all the way.
Experience
I have experience in many areas including working with anxiety, depression, self confidence, grief, life transitions and relationships.
I regularly support neurodivergent clients with a recent diagnosis.
I specialise in working with adults who have personally experienced domestic abuse or have witnessed an abusive relationship as a child.
I also welcome and support clients who self-harm or/and experience suicidal thoughts.
Women experiencing difficulties around the many life transitions they encounter are welcome as are men and women navigating old age.
This list isn't exhaustive so please don't feel you can't be supported if your issue doesn't appear here. Please do get in touch.
My background is varied but is mainly rooted in business and education and I have a wealth of experience working with children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
